Custom Real Neon Porcelain Signs for Garage

Built with Hand-Blown Glass, Porcelain Enamel & Old-School Craftsmanship

Most “custom neon” signs today aren’t neon at all. They’re plastic LED tubes made to imitate the look—but they don’t have the depth, warmth, or weight of a real neon sign, and they don’t belong in a garage built around authenticity.

At Porcelain Advertising, we build custom garage neon signs the way they were made during the golden age of American advertising—using real hand-blown glass neon, kiln-fired porcelain enamel, and heavy steel construction. No shortcuts. No LED. No plastic.

Whether you’re finishing a dream garage, recreating a vintage service station look, or commissioning a one-of-a-kind statement piece, your sign is built from scratch using the same materials found on original mid-century neon signs.

Custom Porcelain Enamel Signs

Custom Vintage Style Metal Signs Built the Way the Originals Were Made

Most “custom metal signs” today are printed aluminum, vinyl overlays, or thin stamped tin.

That is not what we produce.

At Porcelain Advertising, we manufacture true kiln-fired porcelain enamel signage on heavy-gauge steel — layered, fired, and built for decades of durability.

If you need custom signage that carries weight, depth, and permanence, this is the program.

What Real Porcelain Enamel Means

Porcelain enamel is not paint.

It is powdered glass fused to steel at high temperature in a kiln. Each color is applied in layers and fired separately, creating a hard, glass-like surface that:

  • Will not peel
  • Will not fade like printed ink
  • Resists weather and corrosion
  • Has the depth and gloss of authentic vintage signage

This is the same method used on early gas station, automotive, and industrial advertising signs — because it works.

Materials & Construction

All custom porcelain signs are produced using:

  • Heavy-gauge steel substrate
  • Kiln-fired porcelain enamel (layered by color)
  • Hand-punched mounting holes
  • Gloss glass surface finish
  • Indoor or outdoor durability

We do not use stickers, digital wraps, or thin novelty metal.

Available Formats

To maintain quality and production efficiency, we currently offer custom production in standard formats:

Standard Round Porcelain Available Sizes

  • 12”
  • 16”
  • 24”
  • 30”
  • 36”
  • 48”

Rectangular Panels

  • Standard size options available upon request

Custom shapes may be considered for commercial runs with minimum quantities.

Minimum Orders

To protect production integrity and ensure proper enamel layering, we operate under the following structure:

Commercial Runs

  • Minimum 10–25 units per design (depending on size)

Single Premium Custom

Available at elevated pricing to reflect setup and kiln scheduling

For large-scale commercial or franchise rollout orders, volume pricing is available.

Artwork Requirements

Porcelain is not digital printing. Designs must be compatible with enamel layering.

We require:

  • Vector artwork (AI, EPS, or SVG preferred)
  • Pantone references for brand accuracy (if applicable)
  • Final written proof approval prior to production

Very fine gradients, photo-realistic imagery, or extreme micro-detail may not be suitable for kiln-fired enamel.

If needed, our team can assist in preparing artwork for enamel compatibility.

Production Timeline

Custom porcelain production typically requires:

  • 6–10 weeks depending on size and quantity
  • Longer timelines for 100+ unit commercial runs

Each order is scheduled in kiln batches based on color layering and production efficiency.

Payment Terms

Because each sign is produced specifically for your order:

  • 50% non-refundable deposit required to begin production
  • 50% balance due prior to shipment
  • Custom orders are non-cancellable once production has begun

For larger commercial runs, ACH or wire transfer is preferred.

Ideal Applications

Our custom porcelain program is well suited for:

  • Restaurants & hospitality groups
  • Breweries & distilleries
  • Automotive dealerships
  • Performance shops & garages
  • Museums
  • Corporate installations
  • Franchise groups
  • Interior designers
  • Brand activations

If your space demands substance — not novelty — porcelain delivers.

Why Businesses Choose Real Porcelain

In a commercial environment, materials matter.

Customers recognize weight. They recognize gloss depth. They recognize authenticity — even if they cannot articulate it.

Real porcelain signage:

  • Elevates brand perception
  • Creates permanent visual identity
  • Photographs exceptionally well
  • Withstands long-term exposure

It is not disposable décor. It becomes part of the space.
