Licensing, Trademarks & Good Faith Brand Policy

Porcelain Advertising is built on admiration for the iconic brands, imagery, and craftsmanship that defined mid-century American life.

We produce high-quality vintage-style porcelain and neon advertising signs inspired by historic designs. Our goal is not to exploit legacy brands — it is to celebrate and preserve the visual history that collectors value.

We take intellectual property seriously.

Our Approach to Historic Brands

Whenever possible, we seek to work directly with brand owners.

We are currently in discussions with several companies and have made good-faith outreach attempts to others. As a small manufacturer, we do not always receive responses, but we continue making efforts where appropriate.

Where licensing is available and commercially feasible, we are open to formal agreements.

Public Domain & Historic Designs

Many historic brand marks and advertising graphics from the early and mid-20th century are no longer actively enforced or may qualify as public domain material depending on:

  • Age of artwork
  • Renewal status
  • Copyright expiration
  • Trademark registration status
  • Abandonment or non-enforcement

We make reasonable efforts to evaluate whether certain designs fall within public domain status or historical reproduction categories.

When uncertainty exists, we err on the side of caution.

Removal & Correction Policy

If a brand owner believes:

  • A product infringes on a valid trademark
  • A protected mark is being used improperly
  • A current license is required
  • A design should not be reproduced

We request direct communication.

Upon receiving a verified claim, we will:

  • Promptly review the concern
  • Temporarily remove the product if appropriate
  • Engage in good faith dialogue
  • Work toward licensing where feasible
  • Permanently remove the product if required

We do not knowingly produce infringing material.

Good Faith Royalty Commitment

In the event we unknowingly reproduce imagery later determined to require authorization, we commit to:

  • Cooperating fully with verified rights holders
  • Discussing retroactive licensing where appropriate
  • Allocating 10% of net profits from the product toward future royalty payments on any verified claim

If a rights holder prefers removal rather than licensing, any proceeds associated with the product may, at their request, be directed as a charitable donation to an organization of their choosing.

This commitment reflects our intent to act responsibly — not adversarially.

No Claim of Affiliation

Unless explicitly stated, Porcelain Advertising is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the original brand owners whose historic imagery may appear in reproduction form.

Where a product is officially licensed, that designation will be clearly disclosed on the product page.

Our Intent

We celebrate:

  • American industrial design
  • Historic gasoline and oil brands
  • Early automotive culture
  • Vintage Americana
  • Mid-century advertising art

Our purpose is preservation through craftsmanship — not exploitation.

We are open to collaboration and licensing relationships that allow these designs to continue responsibly.

No Misrepresentation or False Affiliation

Porcelain Advertising does not claim affiliation with, endorsement by, or sponsorship from any brand unless a formal licensing agreement is explicitly disclosed on a product page.

We do not represent reproduction signs as original vintage pieces.

We do not present our company as the brand owner.

We do not market products as “official” unless that status is contractually established and clearly stated.

Our reproduction signage is offered as high-quality, vintage-style craftsmanship inspired by historic advertising imagery.

Where a product is officially licensed, that designation will be clearly identified.

Customer-Driven Historic Design Selection

The designs we reproduce are driven largely by collector demand.

Our customers request the brands and imagery they remember — gas stations from childhood, automotive logos from their first car, oil brands from their father’s garage.

We respond to that demand by recreating historically inspired signage using authentic materials and fabrication methods.

Our goal is preservation through craftsmanship — not misrepresentation.

Supporting Preservation Beyond Production

Porcelain Advertising is committed to preserving American advertising heritage through craftsmanship — and through community involvement.

In addition to producing high-quality vintage-style signage, we support preservation in other ways, including:

  • Donating signs to charitable fundraising efforts
  • Contributing over 15 years of professional auctioneering experience to nonprofit events
  • Supporting local arts initiatives and cultural organizations
  • Assisting community groups in raising funds through auction services

Our background in the antique and collector industry informs how we approach both craftsmanship and community.

Preservation is not just commercial for us. It is cultural.

Good Faith Review & Licensing Commitment

If a brand owner believes a product requires authorization, we respectfully request the opportunity to review the concern before any demand for immediate removal.

Our intent is not to evade licensing requirements. Our goal is to work with rights holders whenever possible so that we can continue offering historically inspired designs responsibly.

If contacted by a verified rights holder, we will:

  • Promptly review the claim
  • Engage in direct, good-faith communication
  • Temporarily pause promotion where appropriate during review
  • Request guidance on proper licensing procedures
  • Follow the brand’s outlined steps to apply for authorization
  • Begin remitting legitimate royalties if approved

We prefer collaboration over conflict.

Our objective is to continue celebrating the imagery and brands that shaped generations of American culture — in a way that respects lawful ownership and supports the rights holder.

Royalty & Compliance Commitment

If we unknowingly reproduce imagery later determined to require authorization, we commit to:

  • Cooperating fully with verified rights holders
  • Applying for appropriate licensing where available
  • Remitting legitimate royalty payments as instructed

Where a rights holder prefers not to pursue licensing, we will comply with their direction and remove the product as requested.

Our position is simple: we will follow the rights holder’s guidance.

FAQ

Common Questions & Answers About Porcelain Advertising and Our Porcelain & Neon Signs

We keep things simple and honest—just like the signs we make. Below you’ll find answers to common questions about our materials, process, shipping, returns, and what makes our porcelain signs different from the rest. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, reach out—we’re always happy to help.

What makes your porcelain signs different from others on the market?

Our signs are crafted using a 20-step vintage finishing technique that ensures authenticity and unmatched quality. Each piece is handmade to replicate the look and feel of original vintage porcelain signs, setting us apart from cheaper, mass-produced reproductions.

Are your signs original vintage pieces?

No, our signs are high-quality reproductions. We focus on recreating classic designs with the same materials and craftsmanship used in the originals. However, we do not sell them as antiques, and we ask our customers to avoid reselling them as originals.

What materials do you use to make your signs?

We use heavy-gauge steel and baked enamel porcelain coatings, just like the original manufacturing methods. This process ensures durability, vibrant colors, and a timeless appearance.

Can I resell these signs as originals?

Absolutely not. While our signs are incredibly authentic in appearance, they are modern reproductions. Misrepresenting them as originals violates our values and transparency as a company.

Do you offer custom designs?

Yes, we do offer custom designs, and you will have the exclusive rights to your design. Please inquire via email at support@porcelainadvertising.com for more information.

How much is shipping?

Shipping is Free.

How are your signs shipped?

We carefully package each sign to prevent damage during transit. Shipping is handled through trusted carriers, and tracking information is provided once your order ships.

What is your return policy?

Returns are FREE and accepted for any reason within 30 days for either a refund of the purchase price or an exchange if available. We even cover return shipping costs.

How do I clean and maintain my porcelain sign?

Simply wipe your sign with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials to protect the enamel finish.

Do you offer wholesale pricing?

Yes, we are able to offer direct wholesale pricing and dropshipping capabilities. Please contact us via email at support@porcelainadvertising.com for more information.
